Ullapool is a fine little seaport on
Loch Broom - the most remote on the north-west coast of mainland Britain,
yet only an hour or so from Inverness by road. Ullapool is still important
as a fishing and ferry port, but tourism has become increasingly important
over the years. Ullapool boasts its own annual music festival held in late
September - rather amusingly named
Loopallu.
The region enjoys mild weather due to the North Atlantic Drift current, and is a friendly and incredibly scenic place to stay for a holiday or short break. All pictures © Rob Kay |
