This is the IN place for serious foodies. Food is fantastic, service superb, probably one of the top country restaurants in Scotland and well worth re-mortgaging your house just to see that pudding trolley one more time before you die. Very popular with visiting Americans and the business sector, so the atmosphere can be a little quiet for my liking - unless you are lucky enough to be invited to a wedding, when it really rocks!

Manages to be friendly and un-snobbish whilst giving great value for that special anniversary or business lunch. But I wouldn't take the kids, personally speaking  - this is serious grown-up gourmet territory.

	Family-run restaurant transformed from a 1920's residence between Kilsyth and Banknock, handy for the A80/M80. It has a good local following and customers come from south Glasgow, Stirling and Falkirk and many points between. Our critic said: Angelo's is close to fish supper heaven. Their delicious home-made pizzas also put most fancy Italian sit down joints to shame, at a fraction of the price. The fish is fresh, there is a great choice and you can even get a home delivery if you're one over the limit.

Kilsyth's well-established Tandoori restaurant is a popular favourite in a central location by the Market Square. Good choice of curries, and recently refurbished decor make this a good choice for a reasonably priced night out.

Italian, Turkish, American, Indian cooking
Describes itself as the No 1 fast food chain, and with some (local) justification. Part of a chain of seven very professionally presented and managed outlets, Dhillon's is as legendary for the quality of its kebabs and curries, and very generous portion size, as much as their amusing tendency to get the order slightly wrong, but heck, no-one's perfect, and anyhow, my kids love their burgers, my wife loves their chicken kormas, whilst I cant get enough of their shish kebabs, so they have done their bit to maintain our family harmony over the years.
