The reserve is located to the south of Kilsyth in the Kelvin Valley. It contains Marshland adjacent to Forth & Clyde Canal. The reserve's Fauna and Flora includes breeding and visiting
wading birds, Water Rail, wetland flowers & insects. Location: Near Cumbernauld airport, to the north of the Antonine Wall between the Glasgow/Falkirk railway line and the Forth and Clyde Canal. Area covered

From the B816 (running parallel to the A80). Along a rough track towards
'Westerwood' and the Antonine Wall. A stile facilitates access through
fields (owned by Westerwood Country Club and Golf Course) and under the
Glasgow/Falkirk railway track into the reserve. Parking:
Parking is near the old Westerwood Golf Club house (now used as an
office and workshop) in an area used as storage for golf course
materials such as sand. (As yet, there is no vehicle access to the
reserve). |
