Local Plan For North Lanarkshire  - Kelvin Valley Country Park

I support the proposal for a new Country Park in the Kelvin Valley.  This would be an innovative way of bringing together all the countryside attractions in the area.  It would bring additional tourists to Kilsyth and the Kelvin Valley and would give substance to the North Lanarkshire Council's vision for this area.

The Country Park could bring together Colzium Estate, Dumbreck Nature Reserve, Auchinstarry Quarry, the Forth and Clyde Canal, the Antonine Wall, Banton Loch, Dullatur Marsh Nature Reserve and the new Community Woodlands.  All these visitor attractions are linked together by the Kelvin Valley path network.

Many advantages will flow from establishing a new Country Park in the Kelvin Valley.  Bringing together all the attractions in unified publicity will bring tourists to the area and will let users of any one attraction know about all the others.  A ranger service will help inform visitors, organise events, keep the area looking good and deal with problems.  A Country Park would attract additional private and public funding for the area, and give greater protection against unsuitable developments.

Yours sincerely,

Signed:
