Travel and visitor information

Colzium is a wooded country estate a short signposted walk (1,000 M) from Kilsyth's delightful town centre, with all local services, shops,  historic Burngreen park and conservation area. There are showers and public toilets at the swimming pool in the town centre opposite the Coachman Hotel. Kilsyth also has several restaurants, pubs and fast-food outlets, which will be open late during the festival.

TIP* We recommend the Gulistan, the Scarecrow, and the Coachman Hotel, and the Boathouse hotel at Auchinstarry for meals and drinks by the canal. And Angelo's is the best fish and chip shop - in the historic Market Square.

During the festival there will be no access to the public by car except for pre-booked blue-badge holders and authorised staff, but drop-offs are possible from anywhere along the Stirling Rd.

We recommend that if you must drive, allow plenty of time to find a parking space, and come early to avoid disappointment and frustration. We are also hoping to operate park and ride from Croy railway station car park on the Saturday and Sunday using the existing bus link.

Public transport: plan your journey: http://www.travelinescotland.com/welcome.do

Disabled Access: The Colzium has limited facilities for people with impaired mobility, and some of the paths are relatively uneven and steep. Nevertheless, many people with disabilities have enjoyed the festival in the past, but strong wheelchair pushers may be useful in places! There will be one or two wheelchair - accessible portaloos available by the curling pond pavilion and at Colzium House itself, but you may have to queue at peak times. A limited number of pre-booked blue badge holders car parking spaces are available by prior booking only - first come, first served. book disabled parking

Taxis carrying passengers with a disability may be permitted to access the main driveway outside peak times at the discretion of the stewards on duty, i.e times outwith 12:00 - 18:00 on Sunday 15th August.

Local residents: please use public transport, taxi, walk or cycle. You are welcome to use vehicles for drop-offs at the main Stirling Rd entrance for people who have mobility problems - there is a level driveway from here to the main festival tent about 600 metres away.

On foot: Directions from Kilsyth town centre: walk to the Colzium via the Tak Ma Doon Rd and the Lade, (follow the signs) or by the main Stirling Rd (10-20 minutes) or take a taxi from town (5-10 minutes depending on traffic)

Kilsyth is an official "Walkers Are Welcome" town with an exceptional network of public footpaths linking the town with the Forth and Clyde Canal, Banton loch, Colzium, the Kelvin valley villages and the Antonine Wall. You might enjoy the delightful walk (2 miles) or cycle (10-15 mins) from Croy to Colzium by taking the footpath opposite Croy Station, cutting around the back of Croy quarry on the footpath to the left of the railway line,  then cutting down to Craigmarloch bridge. Or from Croy Miners Welfare follow the elevated Antonine wall itself on pleasant green country footpaths with splendid views of the Kilsyth Hills, or by following the main road and paths past Auchinstarry marina and the canal into Kilsyth, then either through the town centre and Burngreen or along the Coach Road or canal and waymarked footpaths.

By bike: there is unrestricted access to the festival site for cycles. From either Falkirk and Kirkintilloch the canal towpath offers a delightful way to travel to Kilsyth. If coming by rail, allow 10-15 minutes from Croy rail station to cycle to the Colzium via Auchinstarry marina and the Burngreen. Please dismount on busy pedestrian paths, and bring a padlock.
